The lifespan of most home appliances may vary depending on the model and kind of item. However, there are some universal tips that may help you to extend the life of your appliances!

So you’ve spent a few extra bucks on that refrigerator, or washing machine… At the end of the day, you needed them; and if you went a little over budget because of design or functionality, you won’t regret it in the long run.

It’s better to spend a few extra dollars on an eco home appliance; because you’ll see great savings in your energy bill and you’ll have the peace of mind you’re doing your part for Mother Nature! It’s also a good thing to go a little over budget for that stainless steel black appliance, or any given design that matches well with your kitchen, because it will look absolutely incredible and modern designs are easier to maintain at times.

Regardless, you want your brand new home appliance to last as long as possible, right? Because let’s be honest, they’re quite a large investment and are a valuable part of your home, so you want them to run efficiently and effectively!

How to make your home appliances last longer?

Depending on the item, their lifespan changes. For instance major appliances such as fridges and coolers may have a life of up to even 13 or 11 years (respectively), so you want to keep them very clean at all times. We suggest you give them a nice scrub inside, once weekly or every fortnight to the most! And of course don’t overload your fridge with food, since it may interrupt the natural flow of cool air. A cool tip is to keep the rubber gaskets on the doors particularly clean. We suggest weekly for those! Make sure the cool air doesn’t easily escape from the fridge.

For a more technical tip for these 2, every six months or so, call the experts. Your trusted appliance repair service technician, so they can give you a minimal appliance maintenance service.

In the case of other home appliances such as microwaves, gas and electric stoves and ranges, our main piece of advice is for you to keen them as clean as possible. This is something you can do at home, without the need of maintenance. Wipe off with a damp cloth, and a bit of detergent any food debris, stains, and scrub very well every the burners, but be careful not to get any excess water on them! It’s important you don’t allow any food or stains to set and stick!

The same goes for microwaves! These are a bit different to clean on the inside.

Pop a bowl (microwave proof) of water, and heat it in the microwave up to boiling point (be careful and don’t overheat it! No longer than 4 minutes tops! And place a non-metallic object in the bowl, such as a wooden spoon or toothpick). The steam that comes off the boiling bowl, will work as a cleansing mechanism for the inside of your appliance.

These are just a few tips to add life to your home appliances! Remember you don’t need to call the guy every month if you take good care of your appliances; nonetheless it’s always a good idea to give them a maintenance service every 6 months (or so). For that, give us a call!
